General Guidelines for Health
1.
Drink plenty of filtered water throughout the day. The rule
of thumb is that you need to drink half your body weight
in ounces of water per day. This means that if you weigh
150 lbs. you need to drink at least 75 ounces. This is much
more than most people drink on a regular basis. When you
first start drinking this much water, you will urinate alot.
Over time your body will adapt. Drinking 5 ounces at a time
is best, as that is all the body can absorb at one time.
2.
Keep your blood sugar balanced. In general, most Americans
eat too many carbohydrates in proportion to their protein.
Carbohydrates are fruits, vegetables and grains. Protein
sources are meats, seafood, dairy and soy products. Fat
sources are oils and fats. You should acquire 40% of your
grams from carbs, 30% from proteins and 30% from fats. If
you tend to be hypoglycemic, eating more frequent small
meals throughout the day can be helpful. Avoid sugar as
much as possible, it is one of the most detrimental substances
you can put into your body.
3.
Make better choices in fats and choose better sources of them.
In general we don't eat enough of the good fats and too
many of the bad fats. Good fats such as olive oil can be
used in cooking or flax seed oil can be used in salad dressings.
Butter is better for you than margarine. Hydrogenated and
partially hydrogenated oils are poisons to your body and
are found in most pre-packaged and fast foods.Try to get
expeller pressed or cold pressed oils. Eat organic foods
as much as possible. Pesticides and hormones in our foods
are wreaking havoc with our hormonal systems.
4.
Get plenty of sunlight, fresh air and exercise. Spending
an hour or so outside daily without eyewear is very beneficial
towards helping your body to regulate its hormone balance.
Twenty to thirty minutes per day, 3-5 times per week of
aerobic exercise is vital to providing proper oxygenation
of your tissues. Walking is a great source of this kind
of exercise.
5.
About your supplements. All of the supplements you will
be taking are selected for you individually. They are for therapeutic purposes designed to assist an organ or system that is unable to do its job properly (due to either an inadequate supply of necessary materials or cellular dysfunction). Don't take yourself off any supplements without first discussing
it with your practitioner. This could jeopardize your proper
healing and we won't know that a slump in your condition
is due to lack of support of your organs or systems. When
you are rebuilding these systems and organs it can take
months to years to accomplish. In some cases you will need
to always be on support. This is especially true of multivitamins
and targeted organ support where the organ has suffered
years of degeneration. Because of the lack of nutrients
in our food supplies, a multivitamin that is well-suited
to you will generally be necessary for a lifetime. Recommendations
are given as to when you should ideally take them. Try to
follow this as much as possible. If your find that you are
constantly forgetting your midday dose or evening dose,
go ahead and just take them in the morning all together.
It's better to get them in at the wrong time than not at
all.
6.
Electromagnetic Balance. There is an electromagnetic field
surrounding all matter. The electromagnetic field surrounding
your body is negatively influenced by electrical and magnetic
fields such as those emitted by microwave towers, radio
waves, fluorescent lights, computers, etc. If we have not
talked to you about a magnet, ask the doctor to test you
to make sure you are protected.
7.
Be aware of your body. As your body heals it will sometimes
be uncomfortable, especially in the beginning. You may notice
changes in bowel habits and emotions, some nausea and other
changes as your body goes through detoxification. This is
normal and should not last long. However, you should not
feel really lousy. This program is designed to go as fast
as your body is willing to go without too much discomfort.
Please call the office if you are experiencing severe discomfort.
8.
Come prepared. Between visits write down any questions that
you may have regarding your health or your care, and any
observations about how your healing is progressing. At each
visit bring all your supplements and medications with you
and don't take any supplements the day of the visit. This
helps us get a clearer picture of what's going on in your
body.
